Take the gearbox in our DEGUMA neo Series 2.0, for example: it’s no longer housed inside the roll stand. Instead, the more efficient drive is mounted externally on the roll journals. This eliminates the need for a large drive gear, which would otherwise be a costly wear part. While the mill is slightly wider as a result, the individual components are extremely easy to access for maintenance.
